Jungle Child

At the beginning of the 1980s of 20th century German linguist Klaus Kugler with his wife and three children goes to the jungles of New Guinea, where he studies the language of the recently discovered indigenous tribal. Unlike other members of the family, 8-year-old Sabine is quickly adjusting to the new place and she is learning values, traditions, customs and knowledge of the natives. However, the whole family living peacefully their lives does not entirely suspect that they are in the center of a tribal conflict. Despite the mutual will to stay away from each other, the ways of the newcomers and natives begin to constantly intersect with time. Nine years later, already 17-year-old Sabina forced to leave New Guinea and she gets into the boarding school in Switzerland, where she meets again a world completely foreign to her with its difficulties and conflict.

In 1938 Jettel and her five-year-old daughter barely managed to flee Germany to Africa, where their husband and father Walter has settled down. After the “civilized” Europe Jettel and Walter not at once got used to the fact that they will spend indefinite period of time on a remote farm in Kenya. And Regina quickly got used to the new life, she learned the new language and became friends with the local people. The beauty of the “black continent” is seriously underwhelming her. She hardly remembers Europe. But for her parents it is more difficult to get used to it.  And only because of love for their daughter they begin to embrace the beauty of the local landscapes. The events shown in the film are autobiographical and are based on the book of the same name by Stefanie Zweig.

The law level of performance at the school, parents send their 14-year-old doughter Mika for the summer to the farm to the pretty tough grandmother. However, there is in addition to study the books she suddenly finds something else to do. She finds a wild stallion named Ostwind in an isolated barn. No one on the farm are able to tame it. And as if by magic, Mika, who feels attachment to the horse, one night sneaks up to the barn. Thus their unusual friendship begins. Can she tame Ostwind despite everything?

It is pleasing to note, that the film tells not about the achievements in equestrian sport, but about the friendship between the girl and the animal, about the understanding of each other on the level, unreachable for the others.

In the middle of the action there is seventeen-year-boy Stefan, wakes up in the hospital after unsuccessful attempt to commit suicide. Further, we finf out all the circumstances preceding leading up to how he got here. As it turned out, not so long ago, everything was normal in the life of the main characters. As long as he realized his homosexuality.That’s when he realized that he is in love with his friends. Suddenly unfathomable feeling turns his head and he was forced to admit to his friend about his real orientation. He decided to make it in not an usual way – he kisses his friend. It is not difficult to predict the reaction of the boy. Roughness and the sharpness of the friend hurt the protagonist and he takes father’s car in despair to start it and never stops.

Victoria is a spanish girl, who arrived from Madrid to Berlin. Trying to get to know the culture of new city and have fun as well, she goes to the popular night club and meets there four berlin guys, who have fun and invite her to join them. Despite the language barrier and nighttime, main character agrees to meet adventures with her new friends. The guys promise Victoria to show “real Berlin”…
But they just not walk through the city. It turns out that the guys have to deal with old debt, and since one of them is too drunk, they ask Victoria to be the driver. The plot is rather simple, but it is amazing how it is presented – a real life situation. Everyone can get into such troubles.

Four years after their little celebration on the eve of the war, they will meet each other again and realize, how much they have changed. This movie is about the the personal tragedy of everyone, who lost a moral fight with himself and about  impossibility to live as before.  About the moral choice of each of us in our lifetimes.

The movie is inspired by the novel “Black Box” by Mario Giordano and is based on a true-life story.
During a scientific experiment 12 ordinary people willingly become “inmates” of prison for two weeks, while 8 same volunteers become guards. The first group has to follow the rules of prison regime, while the second group has to  keep order. But human nature comes into its own and the experiment gets out of control. Guards relish the power by humiliating prisoners. As a result, revolt is brewing in the prison. Action of “The Experiment” lasts a long time and features nothing special at first, but the movie is gaining momentum later, becoming an exciting and a premonitory thriller about a human violence.”The Experiment” is an opportunity for the viewer to avoid the madness that might  seize you if you can take full advantage of somebody’s fate.

The Lives of Others

One hundred thousand of employees, two hundred thousand of whistle-blowers. Together they are sword and shield of party, famous Stasi. Suspicion is their method.  The lives of others is their profession. The famous writer and dramatist Georg Draiman would live to the end of his days, getting fondled by the attention of grateful readers and absolutely uninteresting for special services, if not an affair with a famous theater actress. Too famous to stay hidden by the powerful official of the Central Committee. So, that way experts from the Stasi appear in life of Draiman.
Even in such conditions, in which live main characters, there is a place for humanity. The movie will be useful for those who are disappointed in people and believe that evil always triumph over good. We can learn a lot from this movie, because a justice theme is always present in our lives under any political currents.
